Attendance Area Adjustments Approved for 2024-25 School Year

February 28, 2024

Families and staff,

On Feb. 27, the Lakeville Area Schools Board of Education approved K-8 attendance area adjustments model D3 after several months of designing updated school boundaries with stakeholder input. The school boundary adjustments are necessary in order to address capacity issues across K-8 schools and to open the District’s new school, Highview Elementary. Boundary adjustments for grades K-8 will take effect beginning the 2024-25 school year, while high school boundaries remain unchanged.

To confirm your student’s school assignment for the 2024-25 school year, most families can use the Tool and enter their home address. Families with students currently receiving special education services or who are currently open enrolled or who are currently Intra-District transferred will receive direct communication with more specific details pertaining to their specific enrollment situation.

For K-12 families with students already enrolled in Lakeville Area Schools or families with incoming Kindergartners who have completed the enrollment process, there is no need to repeat the enrollment process, and no additional paperwork is required.

Please note that new intra-district transfer applications for K-8 students are temporarily paused for the 2023-24 and 2024-25 school years in order to facilitate attendance area adjustments. Information about the 2024-25 Intra-District transfer process for high school students and for very limited circumstances is available on our website

To help address questions you may have, a frequently asked questions (FAQ) section for families is available on our website as well as a parent guide for navigating attendance area adjustments with your student.

If your student will be attending a new school in 2024-25 due to the updated attendance area adjustments, please know our schools will be working collaboratively to support these students and their families through the upcoming transition.  No matter the school students are ultimately assigned, the Lakeville Area Schools staff will welcome, care for, and support the needs of each and every student. More details regarding the 2024-25 school year will be provided throughout the spring by the District and its schools.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our entire school community for actively participating and providing valuable input throughout the attendance area design process over the past several months. Your support has been instrumental in shaping attendance area adjustments, and we appreciate your understanding and patience throughout this process.
