Non-Public School Transportation

According to Minnesota State laws and regulations, Lakeville Area Schools may be obligated to provide district residents choosing to send their children to non-public schools outside the district a monetary reimbursement in lieu of public school transportation. Based on state regulations, this reimbursement can be up to, but may not exceed, the pupil transportation reimbursement amount received by Lakeville Area Schools from the State of Minnesota, less 5 percent for district administrative costs.

How to Apply for Transportation Reimbursement

Application and reimbursement occur between Lakeville Area Schools and each Independent School District No. 194 family. It is the parent’s responsibility to apply for reimbursement for those students who indicate that they live within the Independent School District #194 boundaries. The deadline for this annual application for each school year is November 1. Families submitting for the first time must complete and submit an (one time only, however a name or address change would require a new W9) with their application/contract. The parent who completes the W9 must be the one to sign the Contract.

Applications and W9 forms need to be submitted by November 1. Updated applications for the following school year are generally updated here in June.

Transportation Reimbursement

If a non-public school application is approved for transportation reimbursement, the actual reimbursement will be completed only at the end of the school year, which will be approved at the last School Board Meeting on the fourth Tuesday in June. The non-public school at the close of the school year must submit a student roster containing the names of each student from Lakeville Area Schools attending the non-public school, each student’s gender, grade level and the number of days of actual attendance for the year at the non-public school.

Non-Public Health Services

The State of Minnesota has authorized local public school districts to allow students attending a nonpublic school, established and operating within the school district boundaries, access to the existing district Pupil Health Services. These services must be requested by, or on behalf of, the student no later than September 15.

Non-Public Secondary Guidance Counseling

The State of Minnesota has authorized local public school districts to allow students attending a non-public school, established and operating within the school district boundaries, access to the existing district Secondary (grades 6-12) Student Guidance/Counseling Services. These services must be requested by, or on behalf of, the student no later than September 15.
