Students of the Month: January 2024

January 5, 2023

Lakeville Area Schools has a Students of the Month recognition program that highlights an elementary, middle school and high school student each month. Students are nominated by staff members. The superintendent meets each student to present them with a recognition award and a gift bag donated by the Lakeville Chamber of Commerce and Visit Lakeville.

January's Students of the Month are:

January'S Students of the Month

Mavis Fulton, 1st grade, Oak Hills Elementary

Nominated by Jessica Alexander, First Grade Teacher at OHE

“Mavis has the biggest heart. She is the first person to help me with a task or cheer up a friend who might be feeling sad. One thing that stands out to me about Mavis is her ability to make everybody feel like a somebody. She invites others who might need a friend to play, and is the first to give compliments to a peer when they do something well. She is a great friend to all, and she makes our classroom such a happy place!”

Enrique Sanchez Rojas Jr., 8th grade, Kenwood Trail Middle School

Nominated by Scott Halupczok, 8th Grade Science Teacher at KTMS

“I can't speak highly enough about Enrique and the impact that he has had this year in 8th grade at KTMS. First and foremost, his hard work and dedication to his own education has been fantastic. Enrique is a consistent participant in class each day, works hard to demonstrate knowledge of the concepts being taught, and has shown wonderful responsibility and time management through his assignments. Enrique is rarely seen without a smile on his face and brings a smile to others' faces on a consistent basis. He doesn't shy away from being a helpful individual.”

Ace Kampf, 12th grade, Lakeville South High School

Nominated by Devin Hanson, Art Teacher at LSHS

“Ace is one of the most talented and independent art students I've ever had the pleasure of teaching. Every time I've assigned a task, he takes a unique twist on the project requirements and creates something new and challenging that I've never seen before as an art teacher. Ace is also always eager to help out around the art department in any way he can. I have no doubt that Ace will do incredible things in the future and when he graduates this year, our art department will miss him greatly. Thank you Ace for all you do!”
