Students of the Month: December 2023

December 8, 2023

Lakeville Area Schools has a Students of the Month recognition program that highlights an elementary, middle school and high school student each month. Students are nominated by staff members. The superintendent meets each student to present them with a recognition award and a gift bag donated by the Lakeville Chamber of Commerce and Visit Lakeville.

December's Students of the Month are:

Elias Golownia, 2nd Grade, Eastview Elementary

Nominated by Lynnae Anderson, 3rd grade teacher at Eastview Elementary.

“Elias comes to school each day with a smile and a positive attitude. He enters the classroom and shares that he is excited to be at school and loves his class.  He also goes out of his way to help others in the classroom. I love his commitment to being thankful to others around him and how he expresses that gratitude. He often thanks the teacher before he leaves for the day. Students and staff love being around Elias because they know he will always offer a word of encouragement. He makes everyone feel welcome and accepted."

Abel Edwards, 7th Grade, Century Middle School

Nominated by Jessica Borsenberger, science teacher at Century Middle School

“Abel is polite, kind, engaged and attentive. He is respectful of teachers, peers and the learning environment. He is an advocate for himself and a role model to others.”

Holly Driscoll, 12th Grade, Lakeville Pathways Academy

Nominated by Erin Mulvany-Mankowski, English teacher at Lakeville Pathways Academy.

“There are not enough words in the English language to describe the greatness of Holly. This is my first year teaching Holly, but I feel like I have worked with her for years. Holly is generally quiet and reserved, but once you get to know her, she radiates joy. Holly is a very determined human who refuses to let anything stand in her way. I know that Holly will conquer anything that challenges her because she has found her voice and has learned that self-advocacy is one of the greatest tools that a person can have. I have not seen someone as dedicated to her education as Holly. Holly's work is often the exemplar in my classes. Not only is Holly a dedicated student, she is just generally a caring human being. Holly will often email when she misses school to let her teachers know that she is working. If I am out, Holly will often message me to see how my day is going. I wish that I had more time with Holly, but I am glad that I have met her and will be able to work with her for at least this year. Holly is one of those beautiful souls that enters your life and leaves an indelible mark; she will go far!”
