    Welcome to LAKEVILLE SOUTH, Home of the Cougars!

    Lakeville South High School is a comprehensive four-year high school with an enrollment of approximately 1850 students. Our curriculum includes extensive Advanced Placement opportunities. We offer core curriculum honors courses in English, Mathematics, Social Studies, Science and World Languages. In addition, we offer a full range of AVID, STEM and Special Education courses. We are proud to be recognized by Newsweek, Niche, and US News & World as a top high school in preparing students for college and careers.

    Lakeville South High School students excel in the classroom and in co-curricular activities. We offer a wide range of over 70 co-curricular opportunities for our students. Cougar students participate and experience success in activities, athletics, clubs, fine arts, intramurals, and adaptive sports. Our students receive recognition annually at the conference, region, state, and national levels. Our hard working and talented students and their accomplishments continually amaze us.

    Lakeville South High School faculty are committed to providing an environment where our students can succeed emotionally, intellectually, and socially in high school and beyond. Over 80% of Cougar staff hold masters or doctorate degrees. 70% have 10 or more years of professional experience. All faculty members are engaged in focused Professional Learning Communities. Cougar faculty work in collaborative teams examining student performance and professional practice on a continuous basis.

    Shaun Murphy has served as an educator in Lakeville Schools since 2003 in the following capacities:

    • Special Education Teacher at Lakeville North High School 2003-2009
    • Special Ed Lead and Dean of Students at Lakeville South High School 2009-2019
    • Principal of Lakeville South High School 2019-Current

    Shaun Murphy earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Studies Education and Psychology from St. Olaf College and his Masters of Arts degree from the University of St. Thomas in Special Education. Additionally, Principal Murphy holds two Education Specialists degrees from the University of St. Thomas in the areas of K-12 Administration and Special Education Directorship.
