Lakeville South High School selects Elsa Shorey as the next Head Girls Hockey Coach

The Lakeville South Activities Department is thrilled to announce Elsa Shorey as the new leader for our Girls’ Hockey program, pending school board approval.  Coach Shorey is a Social Studies teacher at Lakeville South High School. She has been a head hockey coach at White Bear Lake High School and Armstrong Cooper. Coach Shorey was instrumental in helping rebuild the White Bear Lake program at the U12, U15, and High School Levels. She took over a high school program that had two seniors for two classes of kids. Under her guidance, the team’s record improved every season as did the numbers of participants. Ultimately, guiding a group to finish in the top tier of the Suburban East Conference.

 

Coach Shorey graduated from Union College with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History and a minor in Politics. While studying at Union College she also played four years of Division I hockey for them. Elsa was on the ECAC All-Academic team all four years and named a finalist for the Mandi Schwartz Student/Athlete of the Year award during her senior season.

 

Coach Shorey’s path to becoming the Lakeville South Girls Head Hockey Coach:

  • White Bear Lake High School (4 years)
  • Armstrong Cooper High School (3 years)
  • Armstrong Cooper - U15’s (1 year)

 

Coach Shorey’s Hockey positions outside of the MSHSL include:

  • Head Coach for District 3 High Performance (3 years)
  • Head Coach Premier Prep League (2 years)
  • Head Coach Elite League (1 year)

Coach Shorey is married to Cal Shorey, they have two incredible sons Dalton (2) and Henrik (7 months). Elsa had this to say about this new opportunity, “I am excited to lead the program at Lakeville South High School. My passion for developing the next generation of the game and supporting student athletes is in the right place. Our players are motivated, hardworking, and committed to success. I look forward to building on this foundation and helping our athletes find team and individual success in the arena and the community. We have an outstanding group of rising seniors and underclassmen, and I cannot wait to hit the ice this summer.”
