Brett Lobben selected as Principal of Highview Elementary

Brett Lobben PortraitLakeville Area Schools Superintendent Dr. Doug Van Zyl announced on Jan. 11 the hiring of Brett Lobben to be the principal of Highview Elementary School pending formal School Board action on Jan. 23. Lobben was selected from a talented pool of candidates that included involvement and input from staff and parents. 

Lobben is currently the Associate Principal at Prairie View Elementary School, where he has worked since 2020.

“I could not be more excited to be joining the Lakeville Area Schools team,” Lobben said. “We have an amazing opportunity to co-create something very special at Highview Elementary. Our success is grounded in strong partnerships. I look forward to connecting with the students, families, and staff of Lakeville Area Schools in the weeks and months to come.”

Prior to becoming Associate Principal at Prairie View Elementary, Lobben worked as Associate Principal at Forest Hills Elementary School from 2013-2020. Prior to that role, Lobben was the Research, Evaluation and Assessment Coordinator for Eden Prairie Public School District from 2011-2013. He also served as the Instrumental Music Teacher and Q-Comp Instructional Coach for Oak Point Elementary School for 15 years. Lobben was recently named the National Association of Elementary School Principals’ National Outstanding Assistant Principal for Minnesota.

“With great excitement, I’m delighted to announce that Brett Lobben has been appointed as the new principal of our newest school, Highview Elementary,” Van Zyl said. “He has demonstrated great dedication to education and innovative leadership, which will undoubtedly benefit the students and staff of Highview Elementary. Together, with our school community, we look forward to a future filled with academic excellence and great possibilities at Highview.”

Lobben has an Education Specialist K-12 Principal Licensure from the University of St. Thomas, a Master’s Degree in Education from Hamline University, and a Bachelor of Music Degree from Lawrence University. Lobben is currently working on his Doctorate in Educational Leadership at Concordia University-Saint Paul.

Lobben will be the first principal of Highview Elementary, which is opening in fall 2024 to accommodate the District’s growing student enrollment.
